TRI-COUNTY ELECTRIC COMPLETES WORK WITH HOMETOWN HOUSING
(Lancaster, MO)— Tri-County Electric Cooperative in partnership with Kirksville Regional Economic Development, Inc., Northeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission, Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative and Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. announces the completion of work with Hometown Housing.
Tri-County Electric Cooperative launched a workforce housing initiative early 2022 and began working with Hometown Housing, a comprehensive housing development firm. Hometown Housing assisted by performing and analyzing a housing market study with local groups, community leaders, and employers to uncover specific demands. The surveys and workshops found a lack of housing inventory for many communities.
Michael Scheib, Tri-County Electric CEO stated, “We’re thankful for the opportunity to work with Hometown Housing. They did a great job getting the ball rolling and we’ve completed that chapter of this initiative.”
Stephanie Mills, Tri-County Electric Manager of Communications and Economic Development added, “According to the study, our communities need to find and provide sustainable solutions to local housing needs. Our next step in this plan is implementation. We’re excited about our partnership with NEMO Regional Planning Commission (RPC) to get us to that final goal and seeing additional housing in our communities.”
Both the NEMO RPC and Tri-County Electric hope to break ground on new homes in the coming months. For more information on this effort, contact Tri-County Electric Cooperative at 660-457-3733.
